North of the village was an active gold mine; There was an old abandon molybdenum mine also to the north: to the south there was once a platinum mine. There was a lot of birth defects and medical problems in the village and I believe the river water was unfit to drink. This same situation exist across Alaska. My wife and I distilled our water while in the village. <br />the Ol'Buzzard Ol'Buzzardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00075162476463971258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260274117021957060.post-60532381923733752622012-08-21T23:27:30.440-04:002012-08-21T23:27:30.440-04:00Vile and heartbreaking. Anyway, I couldn't get in to write a note. My thoughts are certainly with her and her mom. Lou (though I, too, have never met her) seems to me to be just as you describe.Susan Scheidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09250142489341777926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260274117021957060.post-81187328031806726372012-08-21T12:53:26.601-04:002012-08-21T12:53:26.601-04:00Unbearable.
