Guess what? People get old!

Antonio Sabato Jr., Dawn Wells, Anthony Anderson and Teri Hatcher.

I just saw actress Teri Hatcher on a cooking show called Chopped and she looked awesome. Natural, you know, not all carved like a Christmas turkey, or so many other Hollywood stars.

Me and Dave started talking about good she looks, because we're such style icons, and we wondered how old she was. So I googled her and what did I see? Her name amongst a list of other Stars Who Haven't Aged Well.

We were, like, What The Fudge? LEAVE THE TERI ALONE! She's elegant, gorgeous! Not a plastic Barbie doll – just a beautiful, intelligent looking 49-year-old.

Geez,  I am so sick and tired of this world's obsession with eternal youth.

Note to world: if they're lucky, people get old. Old is good. Old is beautiful.

Plastic surgery is not. Just look at Robert Redford or Meg Ryan or anyone else that has butchered their face trying to be something they're not.

  1. And shudder and wince at people in their twenties who are booking in for 'procedures' to keep age away. Sigh.

  2. Take all that money being spent on vanity and give it to a people in need. You'll look ravishing to them....I promise.

  3. Back in the day plastic surgeons were way better. I remember people saying, 'I wonder if he/she had work done?' Now you can totally tell b/c the work is so shoddy that people don't look at all like they used to. Joan Rivers for example!

    1. I know, she looks like a total freak. How can she possibly be happy like that?

  4. I love it when "older" people move around the world looking happy and confident in their own skin. You know the people I mean - the woman with the gorgeous white hair and the funky jewelry, the bald man whose face crinkles in lots of wrinkles as he smiles and holds the door open for you. I want to be those people! :)

  5. When I was in my forties I would push my face up to my ears (with my fingers) and wish I had enough money to get rid of the wrinkles. Now I would look like Babra Waters*. Fortunately I never had money at any time of my life.

    1. Thank god you didn't have enough money. Plastic face surgery is even worse than a tattoo - once you screw up what nature gave you, you can't go back, and you look AWESOME the way you are!

  8. I don't watch the show, so I can't guess which of the two folks in your photograph typically get bullied. Both ladies look fine to me.

    1. Teri Hatcher's on the far right - surely you remember her from being Superman's girlfriend on, what was it, Smallville? And she's also on Desperate Housewives...

  9. Aging gracefully is so much more beautiful than fighting it.

  10. Yup; 68 is a good age. I'm trying to lived it gracefully. I still split my own firewood (something I did this afternoon), and shovel my path and walks. The only alteration to my face is a big cut a doctor sowed up ages ago (after a car accident).

May you age gracefully and naturally, when you get to the "aging" part of your life.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  11. I agree with you 120%. Teri Hatcher does look good and so does anyone else who hasn't nipped, tucked and botoxed the life out of their faces.
Imagine Hollywood a few decades from now...they want to make a movie where some of the characters are old, grandmas and street people etc, but there won't be any available.
I'm proud to be older, I'm 61 and I'm aiming to live longer than my grandma who died at 96. With wrinkles and smile lines and grey hair too.

  12. We were having a discussion about this at work a while back (yep - back in the days when I was still working!) What about all those boob-enlargement procedures - I remarked that some off the extreme cases would need to have deeper coffins when they die, to accommodate the 'excess'! And here's a thought - I know that any heart pacemakers have to be removed from the body before cremation (hubby and I have just planned and paid for our funerals in advance and we had to say if we had any artificial limbs, pacemakers, steel hips, etc.) as they can cause problems during the process - but what about false boobs.....? When the heat is on would they explode? Talk about going out with a bang! ;-p

  14. I must look like an old fart to some of the young folks out there. Plastic is only good for one thing in my world: stretching a penny, not my skin and not my youth.

  15. Right on Cathy. I was a big Meg Ryan fan but find it difficult to watch her in a movie now. I just feel so sad that these people feel they have to do this. Old is much better than the alternative.

    1. Meg Ryan! She used to have such a sweet whimsical face. Now she doesn't even look like herself. If I was her, I'd rather have that same face with wrinkles, rather than someone else's face. Oh well, they never listen to us, right? :)

  16. There have been some wonderful examples of people who age not only well, but with grace and dignity. Katharine Hepburn was a fine example. Betty White is another. But yes, people who live long enough to grow old should consider themselves lucky.

  17. I had a full beard for about 30 years. It was mostly all grey when I started shaving again a couple years ago. Better and cheaper than a face-lift! Except now I have to start the day with a razor at my throat....

How's it going, eh? It's SO good to hear from you. Tell me every darn thing...
