What shocked me the most was how quickly Mr. Layton has deteriorated. On the news this morning he looked gaunt and pale - the make-up he was wearing to try and make him look healthy only made him worse. Honestly, he looked just like my father before he died.
I am unspeakably sad. I voted for Mr. Layton. I believed in him. He truly was the best candidate in the last election and he should have been named prime minister. He was the only leader who spoke for the common man, who spoke common sense, who exuded strength and honesty and a moral backbone. I hope this strength serves him well in this fight for his life.

What a shame to have done so much for his party and to be in such a position to do so much good for his country and then to have ths happen.
I loathe the phrase 'fighting cancer'. He is failing, and life isn't a battle. I am so sorry he used this terminology.
ReplyDeleteSeeing what I see in healthcare, he needs to ask his physicians some hard questions. Quality of life decisions, or the lack thereof, and meaningless treatments, killed my much older mother.

ReplyDeleteI'm not into Jack's politics, but it is terrible to see him looking so frail. My mom and I were just talking about him last night. I wondered why he would continue with the stress of public life and his political career. Mom said it might be what keeps him going. Something to think about.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to Jack and his family. It is such a hard thing to go through. He is doing the right thing by taking time off and stepping down. It is so important to have a goal at the end of your treatments, especially something you love doing, which, in his case is politics and leading his party. I wish him well and hope his journey through his treatments is successful.
