J is for Jennifer Lawrence.

I bet you thought I was going to write about someone else whose name starts with the letter J, didn't you?

Heheheheh...

Nope, for me J is all about Jennifer Lawrence. I have to admit I have a real girl crush going on for her. She is SO talented. I just watched Silver Linings Playbook again the other night, for probably the fourth time, and I was still absolutely mesmerized by her performance. I felt my face stretching into a perma-grin throughout the movie, and I'd look over at Dave, and he was wearing that same goofy smile.

I can't imagine anyone else portraying Katniss in The Hunger Games, and she stole the show in American Hustle. If you've never seen Winter's Bone, you must see it ASAP. The film is captivating for many reasons but Lawrence shines like the future superstar she is destined to be.

I know she appears as Mystique in the X-Men series but it's hard to connect with her in that one because of all the blue paint, eyeball covers and weird red hair – it almost, but not quite, hides the essence of what makes her special... that girl next door quality, that honesty, that complete and utter lack of grace at the Academy Awards ...  I can so relate!

I'm looking forward to the release of her next film, also starring her favourite male lead Bradley Cooper. It's called Serena and it's based on a book I just have to read before the movie comes out. So I better get reading, eh?

And if you've never seen any of these movies, you had better get watching ... I'm watching ya, get going ... go on ... quit stalling ... EC, quit goofing around ... Delores, get your DVDs lined up ... Joanne, put down that damned glitter gun and Alex, step awaaaaaaay from the computer ...

  1. I've seen all of those. While not a Hunger Games fan, I do connect with her in blue in the X-Men. Although her role in American Hustle was excellent. She did steal the movie. Such a bat-shit crazy character!

  2. I love J Law! Total girl crush here too.

  3. I have seen her in a few things... though I try to avoid (mostly) anything with Bradley Cooper in it. At some point after he was in Alias, he seemed to grow a sleazebag persona, at least from my point of view.

  4. Best. Topic. Ever. I'm seriously, totally, 100% in love with Jennifer. It's rare that I have a celeb crush because the women in Hollywood are all so stick-thin and pretentious. J-Law is the complete opposite -- she's crazy hot, crazy cool, and incredibly talented. Plus I love her attitude - about fame, about body image, all of it. She just seems like such a down-to-earth, girl-next-door guy's girl. Totally not your typical A-list celebrity. I could go on and on about her various roles, her sense of humor...etc. etc. but I'd be here all day. Seriously, how can you not love this woman? :-)

Also, I've been going by last names b/c no one ever told me if it's first name or last name but I'm so glad someone mentioned her. So thank you!

  5. I haven't seen those movies. I must be a cultural Luddite. Maybe I should check things out.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  6. She's a phenomenal talent in non-genre films. Winter's Bone, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle are all substantially better films for having her involvement. I'm so enamored with her in those that I was surprised how little she did in Hunger Games and X-Men. I've often wondered if the directors didn't challenge her enough.

  8. I hear your applause - but I don't do movies. I need to stop and think about things. Not possible in a cinema 0R if I am watching the movie at home with anyone. And the images on the screen don't fit with the ones in my head.

  9. I love Jennifer Lawrence too. How can you not, though? Unless you are jealous of how awesome she is - haha! I have not seen Winters Bone but loved her in all the others and will have to add WB to my list of must see movies.

Her interviews and such are my faves though. She is silly and seems real. I dig that. Yep total girl crush,

My K is for Katniss and I am currently stalling. Need to get back to it. Have a great weekend !

  10. My girls love Hunger Games, so Lawrence is pretty big in our house. You're absolutely right about Winter's Bone, and SLP is a personal favorite. Lawrence has quickly gotten to the point where you have to believe if she's in a movie, it's probably gonna be good.

  12. My husband and I watched Winter's Bone on DVD way before Hunger Games came out and we were both thinking how great Jennifer lawrence would be as Katniss. Guess we weren't the only ones. :)
